Alright yall, there are just 9 days (216 hours) until the New York State Bar Exam. I’m sick inside. I have stuff I want to write here but can’t commit the brain power. So I’ll get back with you after the exam. In the meantime, I want to share this post I read earlier from a fellow bar-taker’s blog, Thanks, But No Thanks, that manages to sum up many of my thoughts right now. An excerpt:
Please Stop Telling Me I’m Going to Pass the Bar: When I say to you, “I …

My momma keeps asking me for money and I’m pissed. For the past several months, my mother has called me up and asked me to send her some money for various things ranging from minutes for her pre-paid cell phone to cash for cigarettes. It’s gotten to the point where I see her name pop up on my phone and I sigh loudly, my shoulders slump, and I get upset. “What you want now?” That’s my standard greeting for my mother these days. This is stress that I really don’t …

I’m going to be bitching in this post. You’ve been forewarned.
34 days (839 hours or 5,0367 minutes) until the July Bar Exam. This is the worst.
It’s not like it cannot be done. Obviously it can be done or else there wouldn’t be a grillion lawyers walking around out there. It’s not even about whether I am personally capable of doing it because I am. Besides, the bar isn’t about how smart you are or how good of a lawyer you’ll be, it’s about how much you can memorize. Therein lies the …

So where are we now? There are 46 days (that’s 11o4 hours or 66269 minutes) and a number of seconds until I sit for the NYS Bar Exam. Three weeks into Barbri, several subjects down (Torts, Agency/Partnership, NY Practice, Constitutional Law) and currently reviewing Contracts/Sales. It hasn’t gotten any easier and I expected that to be the case regarding the material. The closer to exam day we get, the more material we’re going to have to hold in our heads at once. Working on the essays and the NY portion …

There are 59 days, 11 hours, 40 minutes and 23 seconds until I sit for the New York State Bar Examination.
Until then, I will spend every day studying. This is normally a difficult and stressful time for anyone preparing for the bar but I feel like I’m running the race with gorilla on my back. Whereas it’s suggested that those studying for the bar spend 5-8 hours each day (not including the 4hours of lecture 5 days/week) practicing test questions, revising notes and soaking in the material, I am at …

So what’s hot in birth control right now? I’ve got to say it’s the IUD, or intra-uterine device. While the pill is still uber popular in terms of hormonal birth control methods, I’m finding that more and more young women are opting for the IUD. For the medical haps on IUDs, I suggest you check here or watch this short video from Planned Parenthood. For my personal experience and a little TMI, continue reading below.
Choosing the method:
I have personally tried out several types of BC over the years. The pill, the …

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. There’s a month for everything under the sun, it seems but this one is particularly important, I think, because so many people are affected by sexual assault. According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network [RAINN], sexual assault includes, but is not limited to, unwanted sexual touching, rape, incest, sexual exploitation and sexual harassment. The statistics are bananas:
1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime.
Every 2 minutes, someone …

iCan’t.
As you can see, I’ve let this blog go. I don’t know, I’m just not as inspired to write like I used to be. I need focus most likely. I couldn’t even finish that Kwanzaa post before this one and what I DID get down was crap. So I’m going to chill.
If for whatever reason you still need a fix of me and my randomosity, check the following:
Tumblr: http://inakia.tumblr.com – I’m here posting stuff from the internet that amuses me. Pics, videos, IMs, etc.

I’m not a racist, I let white folks use my bathroom! I do, however, have a preference for people of color in certain situations, specifically Black folks. There are limits, of course. When given a choice on nearly everything, I don’t care who does it if it’s done well. I don’t go to Starbucks and wait for the Black barista to make my latte over anyone else who is equally qualified at foaming milk and stuff. I do like to have Black doctors, though. Maybe because I haven’t been exposed …

I see now that it might be a couple of days before I can really get back into blogging. I started a new job on Monday so I’ve been getting acclimated there, as well as getting back into a 9-5 schedule. Do you know that I haven’t had to be at a 9-5/5 days a week job since last summer? Even that was an internship! My law classes didn’t even have that type of schedule. In Tokyo, we admittedly did more partying than studying or spending time in class so …
