If you’ve read any of my posts while I was prepping for the NY bar exam (see below), you know that I was having a crazy time studying and working full time. I had tons of emotions flowing through me and nothing let up – not work, BarBri (my prep course), or the demands of my personal relationships. I straight up said that I thought I was going to fail the exam and face a repeat in February. Well I’m happy to report that I did indeed pass the bar exam on my first try! I found out last Friday and was uber excited. I can’t tell you how relieved I am. Just the thought of having to tell people that I wasn’t good enough and that I didn’t make it was turning my stomach. My law school pals all passed their exams this year and last year so I was afraid I was going to be the only one left behind.
In my mind I had good reason to feel that way, having studied much less than others and having distractions all around. So I still have some procedural hurdles to jump before I can officially, legally and ethically practice law in the state of New York. That hasn’t stopped folks from asking for (free) legal advice though. So if you were wishing me well and wondered how I did, now you know.
